How to go about
planning your
holiday

New Zealand is an easy country to get around, it is similar in size to the United Kingdom. In 2 weeks you can easily see the major sights of both islands. You have 4 choices of mode of transport which will depend on how much time you have:

Self drive is by far the most popular way of seeing this picturesque country. There are 2 options to consider; car hire and hotel/motel accommodation or campervan hire. The main determining factor if you are undecided will be the time of the year you visit. In Spring/Summer (Mid Oct - Apr ) campervan hire is very popular and rates are higher. During the cooler months of May to early Oct, Hotel/Motel accommodation would be more comfortable especially in the South Island. I do recommend that where possible you pre-book your accommodation before arriving in New Zealand. At certain times of the year it is very difficult to find availability therefore pre-booking not only saves disappointment but valuable holiday time.

Whichever mode of transport you choose, this is a great way of meeting local New Zealanders who are some of the friendliest characters in the South Pacific (next to us Australian's of course!)

Domestic Flights

If you don't have a lot of time then domestic flights with Air New Zealand will take you between the main centres of Auckland, Rotorua, Christchurch and Queenstown. These are best booked in conjunction with your international tickets as you are usually entitled to an international visitors discount (approx. 30%).

Coach Tours

If you want to sit back, relax and let someone else do the driving then we have a range of coach tours which are excellent value for money.

Intercity
Travelpass

These travel passes are valid on New Zealand's coach, rail and ferry network. Some passes even incorporate flight sectors. This is an economical way to travel where you want when you want as the passes don't have to be used every day i.e 8 days travel in a 14 day period.
