Getting AroundThe best way to get around in this area is by car because there is so much to see and do spread out over a fairly large area. When in the snow you can park your car at a terminal and catch the ski-tube (underground train) to the Perisher and Blue Cow resorts rather than risk driving on the icy roads. There is a public transport system in Yass which is run by Transborder buses which provides a service four times a day to Canberra. The Thredbo Resort is usually quite safe to drive to yourself. |
How To Get ThereIf you choose to drive in this region it is very important that you have tyre chains in your car at all times in case the road is slippery. There will be ample warning signs in the area if chains are required and you can either hire or buy them from most service stations around Jindabyne and Cooma. Eastern Australia and Kendall Airlines both fly to Cooma. Kendall Airlines flies from Melbourne and Eastern Australia flies from Sydney. The coach company Greyhound Pioneer runs from Sydney to Canberra, Cooma and Jindabyne. There are also services to and from Melbourne which operate via Sale and Cooma on its way to Cooma. Or you can catch the Countrylink train which runs from Sydney to Canberra. |
