Built in 1929 to house New Zealand's first intrepid skiers, The Bayview Chateau is renowned for its classical styling and grandeur, epitomised by the Ngauruhoe Room and it's panoramic views of Mount Ngauruhoe. The historical importance of The Bayview Chateau has recently been recognised by the NZ Historic Places Trust who have awarded it a category one classification.
