Captain Cook Cruises 3 Night/4 Day Reef Endeavour Southbound Cruise

Region: Cairns, Tropical North and Cape York (QLD) | Duration: 4 Days | Commences: Cairns
A picture of the tour
Experience tropical islands where the rainforest canopy towers overhead, visit reefs where multitudes of coloured fish decorate rich coral gardens and cruise where dolphins play and dugongs glide in the unique Hinchinbrook Channel.

As one of a small number of passengers aboard MV Reef Endeavour you see remote and exclusive Great Barrier Reef destinations close up, in relaxed comfort.

Facilities include:
Swimming pool, two spa pools, sun deck, sauna, gym, glass bottomed boat, snorkelling and dive vessels, two bars, two lounges, and a single sitting dining salon, gift shop, chart house, library and videos, guest laundry, and 24 hour coffee and tea facilities, telephone and fax.

Cruises depart from and return to Cairns.

Friday
Towering rainforest, giant ferns and native orchids await you on Fitzroy Island, our first destination. Stroll through an afternoon of wonder on our escorted walk along the shady paths of this canopied wilderness.

Saturday
Snorkellers come face to face with clouds of intensely coloured reef fish or make the acquaintance of a giant clam. Passengers in the glass-bottomed boat hear our marine naturalist describe life among the coral bomboras of Hedley Reef, today's marine playground.

With a whole day to explore these coral gardens, there is plenty to talk about at dinner tonight and for many nights to come.

Sunday
A morning passage to remember through Hinchinbrook Channel; on the east of this narrow water-way rise the densely forested slopes of Hinchinbrook Island. At 39,000 hectares, it is Australia's largest island national park, more mountainous and green than any other Barrier Reef island. On the west, the mangroves and, further north, the beaches of the mainland lie in the sun, all seemingly so close you could reach out and touch them. Our marine naturalist explains the channel's diverse habitats that shelter species from dugongs and dolphins to migrating whales. In the high rainforest canopies of Dunk Island - our afternoon stopover - exotic bird and plant life abounds. There is life too at the island's resort where you can drop in for a quiet drink, a hit of tennis, a round of golf or a swim.

On Monday morning we reach Cairns once more.
