Day 1:

Afternoon - Kata Tjuta and Uluru Sunset Tour
Travel to the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta. On the way, stop at a lookout for panoramic views of it's eastern side. Continue on before arriving at the base of Walpa Gorge. Spend some time exploring the gorge and the unusual conglomerate rock formations. The walking trail through Walpa Gorge follows the natural creek between two of the tallest domes of Kata Tjuta. In the late afternoon we travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Witness and photograph the striking colour changes of Uluru at sunset whilst enjoying nibbles and a glass of wine.

Day 2:
Morning - Uluru Sunrise and Guided Cultural Base Walk
Travel to the sunrise viewing area at the eastern end of Uluru and watch the first sunlight of the day creep across the desert plains. Enjoy a warming cup of tea or coffee as the morning sun slowly changes the colour of Uluru. After sunrise, travel by coach to Kuniya Piti, an Aboriginal sacred site at the base of Uluru. Your Guide will escort you on a 1 hour walk to the Mutitjulu Waterhole, pointing out the natural features of the landscape, Aboriginal paintings and traditional Aboriginal stories relating to this special place. Experience the sheer size of Uluru as your guide explains the geological formation, Aboriginal history and flora and fauna unique to this area. On arrival at the Mutitjulu Waterhole pause to take in the tranquillity of your surroundings. This permanent waterhole was once an important water source for Anangu (the local Aboriginal people). At certain times of the year you may see bush plums, a native bush food for Anangu. Travel by coach around the base of Uluru before reaching Kantju Gorge, where after rainfall water can cascade over the side of Uluru and plunge some 90 metres to the ground. From here we do the Mala Walk, which takes you through one of the most important habitation areas for the Aboriginal people over thousands of years. Morning tea, consisting of orange juice and fruitcake is provided by your guide. There is time to visit the Uluru – Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre, where there is the opportunity to learn more about Anangu and Tjukurpa (Anangu beliefs and law). There is also the opportunity to view and purchase locally made Aboriginal arts and crafts. Before returning to Ayers Rock Resort, you will rewarded with an Uluru Base Walker's Certificate and an interpretive information sheet about Uluru.

Day 3:
Uluru Sunset Tour
Travel to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Enjoy nibbles and a glass of wine as the sun sinks over the western horizon and the evening sky brings out the many shades of colour that Uluru is famous for. Occasionally, when it rains, you may be lucky enough to see the spectacular sight of water cascading over the sides of Uluru. Return to Ayers Rock Resort.
